About Buscopan
Buscopan has been used for more than half a century to relieve the discomfort of abdominal pain. Using a unique formula Buscopan helps ease the pain of abdominal cramping by soothing the muscles and allowing the digestive system to return to normal. Buscopan is particularly useful for sufferers of Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) and the cramps associated with menstruation (period).
How to use Buscopan
Buscopan provides relief of spasm of the gastro-intestinal and genito-urinary tracts and in dysmenorrhoea/period pain and for the symptomatic relief of irritable bowel syndrome (IBS).
For IBS in adults: take 1 Buscopan tablet 3 times daily, increased up to 2 tablets 4 times daily if necessary. For children aged 6-12 years, take 1 tablet 3 times daily. Buscopan is not recommended under 6 years.
About the ingredients of Buscopan
Buscopan comes in the form of a white sugar-coated tablet containing Hyoscine-N-butylbromide 10mg. This is known as an
antispasmodic and works by relaxing the muscles in the gut. Because spasms in the gut can cause the symptoms of IBS, this relaxation makes Buscopan an effective treatment for IBS.
Inactive ingredients: calcium hydrogen phosphate, maize starch, soluble starch, colloidal silica, tartaric acid, stearic acid, sucrose, talc, acacia, titanium dioxide, macrogol 6000, carnauba wax, white beeswax, povidone.

Note that Buscopan change their packaging a lot, so packaging may vary.
In addition, please note that these are the
new Buscopan IBS Relief Tablets, not the old "Buscopan Tablets" which were discontinued in 2005. Note, however, that the active ingredient is the same for both products, so if Buscopan Tablets worked for you, then Buscopan IBS should have the same effect.
