Aquacel Ag Foam 15x15 cm non-adhesive dressing is a sterile hydrofibre foam wound dressing featuring a waterproof polyurethane film and a polyurethane foam layer that contains 1.2% ionic silver, which protects wounds from bacteria.

Indications of use:
Aquacel Ag Foam dressings are indicated for
  • Wounds with an infection or an increased risk.
  • Leg ulcers.
  • Venous stasis ulcers.
  • Leg ulcers of mixed aetiology.
  • Arterial ulcers.
  • Pressure ulcers.
  • Diabetic foot ulcers.
  • Surgical wounds.
  • Partial thickness burns.
  • Traumatic wounds.
Directions of use:
  1. Do not use the device if the packaging is damaged or open before use and dispose of the device according to local regulations.
  2. Before applying the dressing cleanse the wound area with an appropriate wound cleanser and dry the surrounding skin.
  3. Dressing Preparation and Application:
    1. Choose a dressing size and shape to ensure that the central absorbent pad (area within the adhesive window) is 1cm larger than the wound area.
    2. Remove the dressing from the sterile pack, and avoid touching the wound contact surface and the adhesive surface where applicable. Remove the release liner if using the adhesive dressing.
    3. The dressing can be cut to shape for convenience.
    4. Hold the dressing over the wound and line up the centre of the dressing with the centre of the wound. Place the pad directly over the wound. For the adhesive dressing, smooth down the adhesive border.
    5. Ensure the dressing is not stretched upon application. Smooth down the adhesive border for adhesive dressing. Ensure joints are sufficiently flexed to allow patient mobility.
    6. An appropriate retention bandage or tape should be used to secure the dressing in place if the dressing does not have an adhesive border, or if the adhesive dressing has been cut.
    7. For difficult to dress anatomical locations, such as the heel or the sacrum, the specially shaped adhesive dressings may be used.
    8. Discard any unused portion of the product after dressing the wound.
  4. Dressing Removal:
    1. The dressing should be changed when clinically indicated (e.g. leakage, bleeding, increased pain). Maximum recommended wear time is up to seven days.
    2. The wound should be cleansed at appropriate intervals.
    3. To remove the dressing, press down gently on the skin and carefully lift one corner of the dressing. continue until all edges are free. Continue until all edges are free. Carefully lift away the dressing and discard according to local clinical protocols.
Contraindications:
Aquacel Ag Foam dressing should not be used on individuals who are sensitive to or who have had an allergic reaction to the dressing or any of its components.
Aquacel Ag Foam dressing are not compatible with oxidising agents such as hydrogen peroxide or hypochlorite solutions.
