Frequently Asked Questions about Odaban
Is Odaban an antiperspirant?
Odaban certainly stops perspiration, but is a pharmacy-strength product and is far more powerful than the standard anti-perspirants that you can normally buy in the supermarket.
How does Odaban work?
The drying effect of Odaban is produced by poral 'plugs', formed from a combination of aluminium and skin protein.
It is the partial blocking of the sweat ducts by these poral 'plugs' that causes a re-routing of the perspiration to the blood capillaries where it is transported to areas of the skin from which evaporation can take place more easily or to the kidneys for excretion. The net result is to leave the treated skin area dry and without any compensatory sweating elsewhere on the body.
What is the difference between Odaban and its counterparts?
There are many products based around Aluminium Chloride, including
Driclor,
Anhydrol Forte and
Perspirex. The unique feature of Odaban is that it comes in a spray form. This does not sound like a big deal, but the spray is more hygienic than the roll-on and the contents are much less likely to be contaminated by sweat. The sweat that contaminates a roll-on can break down the aluminium chloride and can cause the product to become acidic, which can lead to skin irritation.
How long does an application of Odaban last?
Odaban only needs to be applied once or twice weekly.
Can I have a bath/go swimming if I use Odaban?
Yes, and it will not wash off during swimming or bathing.
Where on my body can I use Odaban?
Odaban can be used on any part of the skin, including the sensitive skin of the face, scalp, hands, buttocks and groin. When applying Odaban to the face, buttocks or groin, be sure to spray onto a cotton pad and to wipe the product on, to avoid spraying into internal areas. Do not use Odaban on broken skin.
Why is my Odaban bottle not filled to the top?
The Odaban pump spray does come with approximately 1.5 inches of air space to allow the pump to work effectively.
