Issey Miyake

Issey Miyake, highly regarded for his sleek lines and stylish interplay of form and function, has been heralded as one of the world’s most innovative designers.

With almost futuristic aplomb Miyake brought the A-POC (a piece of clothing) concept to the world in which pre-made tubes of fabric can be cut into the desired shapes and styles by the wearer.

With all his work Miyake consistently employs playful word puns, his A-POC concept echoing the word 'epoch', his l'eau d'issey perfume lines recalling the word 'odyssey' and his store in Japan, 'ELTTOB TEP' the words 'Pet Bottle' spelt backwards.

Despite officially retiring in 1997 Miyake still overseas the designs and activities of his brand amd currently has over 50 fragrances on the market.
