Estee Lauder

Joseph and Estee Lauder formed the Estee Lauder Company in New York in 1946. The company began to sell its goods in Saks Department Store, Fifth Avenue, two years later.

By 1961 the company had gone international, selling in Harrods, London and Hong Kong. Estee was the only woman to feature on Time magazines list of the 20 most influential business figures of the 20th century.

Along with Elizabeth Arden Estee Lauder pioneered cosmetics in the 20th century. Holding the belief that all women can beautiful she helped to bring skin care products to masses, sculpting the industry into what it is today.

Lauder's first fragrance release Youth Dew, a bath oil that could also be used as a perfume, was released in 1953 and is still a massive seller today. The Estee lauder name living on after her death continues to release perfumes and has over 80 perfumes on the market.
