Guerlain

Steeped in tradition, Guerlain is one of the oldest perfume houses in the world with it's offical founding date in 1824. Starting out under Pierre-François Pascal Guerlain the company offered everyday hygiene products but soon started creating perfumes for their customers, ending up with Guerlain as the official perfumers for several European royal courts.

Famed for bringing rarer, exotic flavours such as ylang ylang to their perfumes, Guerlain were also amongst the first to use synthetic components and are famously credited with creating the first 'modern' perfume with their fragrance Jicky in 1889.

The Guerlain company until 1994 remained a family business with the role of nose (master perfumer) being handed down through the generations. Some of the fragrances still produced by Guerlain are over 100 years old.
