Burberry

Burberry was established in Basingtoke, Hampshire, England in 1856 by 21 year old Thomas Burberry. Nowadays Burberry is infamous for their 'Burberry Check' which was originally used in 1924 as the lining for their trenchcoat. It wasn't until 1967 however that the Burberry Check was widely used on items such as umbrellas, scarves and luggage, and has since become one of the most copied motifs in fashion.

A label with far reaching appeal today, Burberry's iconic designs have been adopted by fahionistas across the classes in the UK, from the aristocracy to well-monied city ladies to urban chav trendsetters.
