How do I apply Alpecin shampoo?
This procedure applies to the
Alpecin Caffeine Shampoo C1 as well as the
Alpecin Double Effect Shampoo.
Use Alpecin almost as you would normal shamoo. Wet the hair and apply Alpecin. However, rather than rinsing the hair out straight away, leave the Alpecin in the hair for 2 minutes, massaging the product into the scalp at the same time. During this time, the Alpecin will work its way into the hair roots.
You can leave Alpecin in for longer than 2 minutes. Up to 5 minutes may be required for some people.
You should apply Alpecin after-shampoo liquid a few minutes before styling the hair. Apply enough Alpecin liquid to cover the scalp. Massage into the scalp for around 2 minutes, then leave to dry. You can then style your hair as normal.
Can Alpecin be used in conjunction with Regaine?
Yes it can, because they both work in different ways. In fact, Alpecin is particularly good for use with Regaine, because it does not contain dimethicone (see
Regaine and Shampooing). We recommend using Alpecin shampoo and Regaine Extra Strength. You can use Alpecin After Shampoo Liquid too, but it is best to leave one to dry before applying the other.
Can Alpecin be used by women?
There is a version of Alpecin for women, known as
Plantur, which is also caffeine-based. Alpecin was designed for use by men, and has not been tested for use in women. There is no known reason why Alpecin would not work for women, but it does have a more manly fragrance, which is why we would recommend
Plantur for women.
Should I use Alpecin every day?
Alpecin is designed to be effective for 24 hours at a time. Therefore, to maintain the effect of Alpecin, it is best to apply it daily.
How much Alpecin should I apply?
It is not possible to overdose on Alpecin, so do apply thoroughly so that the whole scalp is covered. Even where the hair is still thick, you can apply Alpecin and it will help maintain the hair follicles.
What happens if I stop using Alpecin?
The hair will return to its normal phase. It won't suddenly fall out but you will notice that your hair loss will gradually return to its normal rate.
