Eczema, Dermatitis, Allergic Rashes...
The creams featured below are suitable for mild to moderate eczema, contact dermatitis and bite/sting skin reactions.
Important!
If you have
infected or cracking eczema, or any
open or weeping wounds or sores, DO NOT apply hydrocortisone directly to them. In a case of infected eczema, why not try
Skinsure Plus which moisturises and protects but also has an antibacterial ingredient. Alternatively,
Sudocrem is an excellent moisturising barrier cream that has anti-fungal and anti-bacterial ingredients.
For severe itching associated with eczema, why not try
Eurax or
E45 Itch Relief Cream?

Athlete's foot & Infected Sweat Rash...
Athlete's Foot and
Infected Sweat Rash are fungal infections of the skin. These can be treated with a combination of Hydrocortisone cream and an antifungal treatment. The products below (
Canesten HC and
Daktacort) contain both an antifungal ingredient and a hydrocortisone.
Important! You must not use hydrocortisone alone on these fungal conditions (ie. the products listed in the section above). If you only use hydrocortisone on these conditions it could actually make the problem worse due to the way that hydrocortisone works. However, if wish to purchase a separate hydrocortisone cream and a separate anti-fungal treatment (such as
Daktarin) and use them together, you may. If you do this PLEASE make this perfectly clear in the answers you give to our pharmacy questions at the checkout, otherwise our pharmacist will not allow the order to leave us without having to communicate with you first.
DO NOT USE ON:
Jock Itch is a fungal infection of the groin caused by
ringworm but it is commonly confused with sweat rash. Hydrocortisones must not be applied to the ano-genital area because the skin is delicate and thinner there. We recommend using an
antifungal treatment to treat the groin.
Fungal Candidal infections like
Thrush and
Oral Thrush need specific
antifungal treatments.
The products on this page are not licensed for use on the genitals, anus or face. If you have an inflamed skin condition on these more delicate areas, visit your GP who can prescribe or advise an appropriate treatment.
