Not to be beaten by the winds of change, Maurer & Wirtz, the producers of 4711 brought out 4711 Nouveau, which since its release in 2011 has gained some notoriety with the perfume buying public, comparing well to other modernist fragrances with a price tag that really competes.

Drawing from a more diverse flavour base than its predecessor, 4711 Nouveau opens with exotic fruitiness, oriental yuzu and litchi power through the top notes with a subtle hint of blackcurrant also detectable. The heart notes are florals with peony and geranium working off each other in a display of perfumery excellence. The dry down gives a moderate musk with classically oriental sandalwood and rich tonka bean accords.

The overall appeal of 4711 Nouveau whilst satisfying more modern tastes still gives a restorative effect comparable to the original. Cooling and calming 4711 works well before bed and on long summer days.
