Due to the new EU Herbal Legislation, Lamberts Echinacea and Goldenseal will not be licensed and therefore can no longer be sourced from Lamberts as of the 30th April 2011. However, it will continue to be available through Express Chemist, whilst stock lasts.

Echinacea purpurea, also known as purple coneflower, is widely used in Europe and the USA. Echinacea is considered to have many uses, however the herb is best known for boosting the immune system and helping prevent viral and bacterial infections, especially those in the respiratory area.

    Both active ingredients Echinacea and Goldenseal have anti-inflammatory, antiseptic, antiviral, antibacterial and anti-allergenic properties. These properties make them particularly popular as a preventative supplement, taken to prevent getting an infection as well as a supplement taken for shortening the length of time an infection lasts, reduce the pain or reduce the severity of an allergy.

    Although analysis of Echinacea purpurea has yielded an array of chemical constituents with some pharmacological activity, it is the organic phenolic compounds that are used for standardisation procedures.

    Lamberts favours standardised extracts since the extraction and concentration procedures ensure that the herbal product is far more potent than those products based on a powdered whole herb, where no attempt is made to concentrate the active ingredients.

    Each tablet contains a standardised extract, equivalent to 1000mg of dried echinacea, and provides a guaranteed 4% phenolic compounds like our single echinacea product. Plus a full 100mg extract of goldenseal, equivalent to 2000mg of the whole herb, with a guaranteed 10% alkaloids.

    Dosage: 1 to 2 tablets daily. Echinacea is best taken for 2 to 3 week periods.

    Disintegration Time: Less than 1 hour.

    Suitable for vegetarians.

    Caution: This product is not recommended for pregnant or lactating women.
